ISHMAEL ENTERING NEW BEDFORD: New Bedford is my home town and serves as the
opening locale in Moby Dick. The whaleship Acushnet sits in the Acushnet river.
It's the ship Melville went out on when he was in his twenties.. that's him waving out of the window
of the Spouter Inn. This is one of my many attempts at perhaps a" new look "to Moby Dick.
